How We Work

GiGi’s model is simple – one employee, 200 volunteers and a venue to provide therapy-styled classes and tutoring. Everything provided by GiGi’s Playhouse is free to children and families of T21.

The T21 population share common obstacles: low muscle tone, weak mouth skills, sleep apnea (see Formula 21.) If tackled early, these challenges can be managed and overcome. Early intervention works. Classes at GiGi’s are styled for therapeutical play to develop speech and language, social development, fine and gross motor skills.

Our literacy program builds a foundation from the beginning in four main areas: articulation, sight word recognition, vocabulary, comprehension. Tutoring is conducted one-on-one over 12 weeks with a 94% graduation rate to the next literacy level. GiGi’s tutors incorporate games and iPads to stimulate learning in a different way.

The current programs offered at GiGi’s Playhouse are:

  • Learning to Crawl – Physical Therapy
  • Learning to Walk – Physical Therapy
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Speech Therapy
  • Literacy Tutoring
  • Music Class with Alita & Kathleen
  • Art Class
  • Guitar Lessons with Josh
  • Karate Class
  • Tying Shoes
